*fangirl squeal* My #1 favorite character of all time, next to Rigby! I just love him because of his personality and his voice, and I enjoy reading most fanfics that're about him. ^^

My favorite also, because his angry faces really make this show funny.

How can I express my love for Benson...

I absolutely adore him BECAUSE he's so different from what's expected of him.

We usually see him from Mordecai and Rigby's POV- their angry boss who yells when they don't feel like working. But he's actually a nice guy. He was game for giving Skips a party in "Free Cake" bc he agreed with M&R that Skips was an awesome guy/worker and deserved a party. And the only reason he never threw Skips a party (IMO) is bc like he said, Skips is "really private about it" and respected his privacy. I don't buy into other theories that he didn't throw the guy a party bc he's cheap. He gives his workers free cake on their birthdays. My boss doesn't even do that.

Or when he went to M&R's performance in "Mordecai and the Rigbys" bc initially, yeah, he wanted to see them fail but admitted when he thought they were good and showed them respect when they came clean about lip syncing. And in "High Score" when Mordecai complained about not getting respect, he thought it over and even reconsidered, getting them cheques (at least before freaking out bc they blew off work). Even in the first episode when he gave them $20 (I like to think that was all Benson, not The Power).

I just think the guy's overworked. In my head canon, Benson's not that much older than Mordecai an Rigby, but he's just worn down from working all of his life to get to be a manager (from where he said "I've spent my whole life working a dead end job..."). He just has such a temper because he sees these two guys slacking and having crazy adventures where everything works out in the end, just living life when he has to work and work and work and STILL be blamed by his superiors. The bags under his eyes just tell a really sad story to me. I absolutely hate the episode "Meat Your Maker" because Benson gave Mordecai and Rigby a little bit of trust and it still blew up in his face. It didn't mean much to me when I first saw it but after watching "Benson Be Gone" and "This Is My Jam" and "Party Pete" where he was shown as kind of a nice guy, it really disappoints me that he's blamed so unfairly.

I adore Benson, the most out of all of the characters because he has such hidden depths. He's not some crotchety old boss who screams for no reason and you'd think a character who spends most of his screen time yelling at the main characters would just be portrayed a jerk in a kid's show. But he has good reason. Mordecai and Rigby ARE slackers and irresponsible. I mean, we see that Muscle Man can be just as much of a slacker but Benson is way easier on him simply because he checks in. He's still a person with hobbies and interests- he plans the drums like a beast and I remember reading somewhere that he loves rock music (forumspring? twitter?). I felt for him the whole episode of "Benson Be Gone". His worried expression when Maellard said there'd be changes, his hopeless shock when he got demoted, when he scored a goal in foosball (ADORABLE), when he took down Susan... my absolute favourite episode.

One of the most heartwarming moments on the show to me was in "Don". When Don grabs him and hugs him and Benson is a little freaked out but then smiles and hugs him back. Not gonna lie. I kind of ship human!Benson and human!Don bc of that and sewerMonstar's drawings on DeviantArt.

And I love his voice. It's AMAZING!

I agree with StarPhoenix. He's an awesome character inside and out. =) Love his voice. He's so cute when he's angry. XD

50 points for StarPhoenix because that was just grand. You pretty much covered all points for loving this character.

I just don't know if I like him enjoying himself (cute) or him freaking out (hilarious) more.
I pray for a anger management episode.

I really appreciate the character development and consistency in Regular Show, which is uncommon in this type of cartoon. Benson is a fine example of this.

I see a bit of myself in his character. No, I don't have anger issues, I just tend to get really, really annoyed when certain people ... well, annoy me. Thus, I become impatient. My little sister comes to mind.
Likewise, I tend to stress way, WAY too much over certain things.

Anyway, I love when they give this character a day in the limelight, so to speak, because he is not just the typical angry guy of the series: the show makes it a point to show other aspects of his personality, even in the seemingly most insignificant of ways.

I look forward to seeing Benson's character further explored. Btw nice post, StarPheonix! ^_^

I like Benson because he's a gumball machine. Plus, his catchphrase "YOU'RE FIRED!" reminds me of Mr. Spacely from the Jetsons. I also like how he's just a normal guy with dealing with two slackers.

I like him, especially when he's mad. Lol

Benson is quite complex indeed. He's no strawman.
